AWHS Student Council Hosts Annual Professional Development Day

student council PD day

The Anthony Wayne High School Student Council hosted its fourth annual Professional Development Day on March 6. This year, Student Council representatives from Maumee, Bowling Green, Otsego, Springfield, Sylvania Northview and Whitmer joined the AWHS Student Council for a day of collaboration, leadership training and networking.

The student-led event began with a welcome from AWHS Principal, Dr. Kevin Pfefferle and event organizers Grant Hubley and Aradhya Muthumula, both AWHS Juniors. Representatives from each school then shared an overview of its Student Council activities and achievements. After getting to know each other better through ice breaker activities and games, students dove into conversation. Through round-table discussions, the student leaders exchanged ideas, shared best practices and collaborated on solutions to common challenges.

The goal of the annual event is for students to learn from each other to strengthen student leadership within each school community.

“This is one of my favorite Student Council activities of the year,” said Julie Blakely, AWHS Science Teacher and Student Council Advisor. "It’s incredible to see our students take the lead in organizing such a meaningful event, and I’m always so proud of the effort and dedication they put into making it a success. This day not only allows them to showcase their leadership skills but also provides an invaluable opportunity to engage with peers from other districts, exchanging ideas and building lasting connections."
