Dear Anthony Wayne High School and Junior High Families:
This message is to inform you of an improvement in our school communications and record keeping practices.
The District uses multiple platforms to facilitate sharing information with families and students, including, but not limited to: PowerSchool, FinalForms, BrightArrow / InstantConnect, Google Classroom and Google Email. We encourage our staff, coaches and advisors to use these resources as primary methods of communication with students.
While private or group text messaging is discouraged, there are instances where this type of communication may be used to relay emergent information about various events, cancellations, important updates, or other matters of urgent need.
As a matter of proactive safety and in alignment with Board Policy and state of Ohio law, we are re-emphasizing with staff that personal communication with students using personal devices should be on as-needed basis only and that all electronic communication with students should be archived as a matter of student record.
What’s New:
Should a coach or advisor need to use (iMessage, SMS, RCS, MMS) to communicate with student(s), they will also include a phone number that will archive that conversation to the District’s Google Vault archival system. Please note that this archive is not actively monitored and will be accessed only if needed as a matter of student record in accordance with Board Policy.
As always, it is always recommended that you stay aware of your child’s online and personal device communications and report any suspicious activity. Please call 419-877-5377 with any questions.
Thank you,
Kevin Herman, Interim Superintendent
Anthony Wayne Local Schools
