January 28, 2025
Dear Parent or Guardian:
This letter serves as Anthony Wayne High School’s notification regarding College Credit Plus (CCP) available to your son/daughter enrolled in grades 7-12 during the 2025-2026 school year. College Credit Plus allows eligible students to take courses and earn both high school and college credit.
For students to participate in College Credit Plus for the 2025-2026 school year, students and parents must view a mandatory counseling session. This mandatory counseling session is available in all students’ Google Classrooms. At the conclusion of the counseling session video, there will be a Google Form that ALL participants must complete to verify attendance. The Intent to Participate Form can be downloaded from the Google Classroom or picked up in the high school counseling office.
The CCP program can be a great fit for some college-bound students, but it does come with some challenges that should be considered carefully before enrolling. Some questions that you may wish to discuss with your student prior to entering the CCP program include:
Is your child self-motivated and organized in order to independently manage the course requirements?
Does your child understand the potential impact of the course grade on their college/HS transcript?
Will your child miss out on activities and social connections at AWHS by participating in an online course?
The deadline for viewing the counseling session, completing the Google Attendance Form and turning in the Intent to Participate Form, is April 1, 2025. ALL students, regardless of whether they have previously participated in CCP, must follow these steps. If a student is planning to participate in the CCP program, it is in their best interest to begin this process sooner rather than later. Registration for current high school students begins this week.
Students will be ready to begin discussing their CCP courses with their counselor and/or CCP advisor when they:
have watched the video.
completed the Google Form.
returned the Intent to Participate form & the Counseling Session for College Credit Plus Participation form.
applied to the college of their choice.
The virtual session will provide information regarding admissions and the application process. The CCP step-by-step checklist can be found on the District website at www.AnthonyWayneSchools.org/CCP. If you have any questions after you have viewed the presentation, please feel free to contact your student’s counselor.
Sincerely,
Kevin Pfefferle, Principal
