On February 11, Anthony Wayne Local Schools’ Director of Technology, Dr. Chris Hamady, and Technology Specialist Devin Filip, presented "Cybersecurity Domain and Data Defense" at the 2025 Ohio Educational Technology Conference in Columbus, Ohio.
Speaking to an audience of approximately 40 technology directors, and other school district administrators, they highlighted how AWLS is among a select few districts implementing a unique authentication strategy designed to more effectively defend against ransomware threats.
The presentation covered key cybersecurity strategies, including:
Anti-virus protection
Multi-factor authentication
Securing and backing up sensitive data
Assessing online resources and protecting student data located therein
Implementing backup strategies for important information
Disaster recovery drills and planning
The session was well received, with many attendees staying afterward to learn more about the District’s innovative approach to cybersecurity.
